Maldives History

Maldives or the Republic of Maldives is an island country located in the Indian Ocean, south of India. The country has 1190 coral islands and is one of the smallest countries in Asia to be a member of the United Nations.

Today, the country has become a major tourist destination due to its beaches of exotic waters of the sea and its picturesque landscape. Before going on holiday in this country, it is necessary that we have full information on the Maldives, which can cover the country and its people easily.

Maldives is located on the equatorial belt and enjoys a hot and humid climate. The sun shines here throughout the year. The locals speak the language Dhivehi. English is, however, also spoken at greater length here. The currency is Rufiyaa and Laaree. The country gained its independence on July 26, 1965.

Fishing and tourism are the main industries of the country. Male is the nation's capital. The city is known for its high towers and skyscrapers. There are many tourist attractions in the city, which includes the National Museum. The city is known for its rich cultural heritage and is home to a large number of colors, festivals and events. The country's culture is a mixture of British Muslims culture.

Travel to the Maldives is not difficult at all. There are a number of airlines that have flights to the international airport in Male. We can simply take a flight from the city of departure and arrive easily here. The interior of the country can be reached by, helicopter, or taxis or boats called 'dhoni '. In the city of Male, there are also air-conditioned taxis.
